Twitter Quotes: Colin Cowherd on Apologies

Amidst an NBA All-Star Game in Orlando (20 minutes from my home) that saw Lebron James turn the ball over in the last seconds of the game, there was also talk about a single hard foul given by Dwayne Wade and received by Kobe Bryant. Kobe suffered a broken nose, and what was described as a 'minor concussion'. Wade later released an apology to his all-star counterpart. When asked on ESPN's Sportsnation if D-Wade should have apologized, Colin had this to say.

Twitter Quotes: Gonzalo Le Batard on Running

Gonzalo Le Betard is Dan Le Batard's father, and they both run a show on ESPN called Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable. Gonzalo always has something to say, and most of the time it is something that is humorous. This quote explains how to do something that seems pretty pedestrian, but is difficult for some..

Twitter Quotes: Jacoby Ellsbury on Jason Varitek

Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek announced today that he would announce his retirement on Thursday. Varitek has certainly been at least one of the faces of the franchise for as long as been there, and there is no doubt the league will miss him. Jacoby Ellsbury shares his thoughts.

Twitter Quotes: Colin Cowherd on Idiots

As you all should know, my favorite sports radio personality is ESPN's Colin Cowherd. I heard him say something this morning on his ESPN Radio Show The Herd that was both interesting and humorous.

Via Bolts by the Bay: Deadline Summary: Lightning Acquire Three Defensemen

As it turned out, Steve Yzerman was not finished making moves. Hours before the trade deadline, the Lightning announced three separate trades. The first announcement involved a deal with the Detroit Red Wings. The Lightning picked up veteran defensman Mike Commodore in exchange for a 7th round pick at the 2013 draft. Commodore has been around for a while, playing in 471 games with the Devils, Flames, Hurricanes, Senators, Blue Jackets, and the Red Wings in the past 11 years. Commodore is a big defenseman, standing at 6 feet and 5 inches and weighing 235 pounds. The Lightning then gave up defensemen Matt Gilroy in exchange for Ottawa’s Brian Lee. Lee has played 167 career games with the Senators, along with 123 games at the AHL level. And finally, the Lightning also received Keith Aulie from the Leafs in exhange for forward Carter Ashton. Keith Aulie is a big 6 foot 6, 217 pound defensman that has played in 17 games with Toronto this season and 57 NHL games in his career. Brian Burke, General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, said this of Keith Aulie...more.

Pinterest Shows us Downie as he Helps Avs to Win

Saturday night was a night to remember for Avs' forward Steve Downie. After 9:13 in the first period, Downie broke through Red Wings' goaltender Jimmy Howard for the eventual game winner in a 4-3 Avs victory over Detroit. Downie also had assists on both of rookie forward's Gabriel Landeskog's goals.

Since being traded to the Avs from the Lightning, Steve Downie has 2 goals and 3 assists with his new club. After an emotional departure, Downie has settled in rather well.

Introducing Pinterest With a Heat Win Over the Knicks

Linsanity did not phase Lebron James and the Heat tonight as Miami beat the Knicks tonight by a score of 102-88.

A few days ago, this sign was spotted during a Knicks game...

However, Lebron stared Mr. Jeremy Lin down tonight with one of those 'Welcome to the NBA' looks.

Via Bolts by the Bay: Stamkos: 30, 40… 51?

This year Steven Stamkos has shown his skills yet again. For the third consecutive season, Stamkos has surpassed the 40 goal mark. In fact, his goals total for the last three seasons is 136 goals, easily placing him ahead of everyone else in terms of goals scored since the beginning of the ’09-’10 season. Stamkos has been a great leader on the ice as well, beginning with the most obvious form of recognition: an ‘A’ on his jersey. Stammer has shown to everyone why he is the Assistant captain on the team at only 22 years of age. With so many goals scored against, it’s very hard to keep a great plus minus on this Lightning team. However, Stamkos is tied at second on the team with a plus-6 rating (tied with Bergeron, two behind Purcell). Stamkos’ fabulous offensive play has been complimented by improving defensive play from the center. Critics have always questioned Steven’s ability to play defense, but he has responded by steadily improving his defensive play throughout the season... more.

Via Bolts by the Bay: Nabby Off the Market, Lightning Move on to Buffalo

The Tampa Bay Lightning played against the New York Rangers Thursday night, and my was it a thriller. Stamkos scored his league leading 35th goal on a breakaway, Captain Vinny scored a grind-it-out goal, and Garon looked focused in net. As dominant as the Rangers have been this season, I was extremely impressed with the effort put forth by the team as a whole during the game against the Blue Shirts. Of course, the team did end up blowing a third period lead and losing in overtime, but that’s not the encouraging part. For the first time in a while, the Lightning didn’t loose the game; they were simply beaten, fair and square. Top teams find ways to beat teams, and last night’s win for the Rangers was an example of that... more.
